Meet Joe Black/Wimbledon Blu-ray Review

This is an odd-pairing, even under the “Girls Night In Double Feature” edition as one is a romance-drama with fantasy while the other is just a typical romance-comedy, but even so both films are alright and at a cheap price worth picking up.

Solo: A Star Wars Story Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

Solo: A Star Wars Story might be unnecessary and it’s also not all that memorable, yet it was entertaining enough for what it is and featured some fun action set-pieces and the performance from Ehrenreich.

Avengers: Infinity War 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Review + BD Screen Caps

Avengers: Infinity War was an amazing feat for comic book movies and although I don’t believe it’s the greatest one, it’s still a great accomplishment from all involved.

Manhunt: Unabomber BD + Screen Caps

Manhunt: Unabomber is the latest real-life dramatization that has taken the country by storm and it’s a well cast and finely acted one at that with both Sam Worthington and Paul Bettany, along with veteran Chris Noth, turning in good performances.

Review: The Da Vinci Code UHD + Screen Caps

The Da Vinci Code has more or less remained the same in my eyes since seeing it in theaters a decade ago. The acting more or less steals the show over a bit of a convoluted story, yet the mystery and adventure aspect makes the nearly two-and-a-half hour running time bearable.

Captain America: Civil War 3D Blu-ray Review

Captain America: Civil War is a good movie for sure and I did enjoy elements of it and the fight between Cap and Iron Man was well done, however, the film does have its issues but on the whole is entertaining.

Review: Mortdecai BD + Screen Caps

When it comes down to it Mortdecai is just a bad movie. None of the jokes worked and Johnny Depp’s latest outlandish performance is no longer charming and the respectable supporting cast is completely wasted. This is not even worth a rental. As for the Blu-ray, the bonus material is basic while the video/audio transfers are more than respectable.

Transcendence Blu-ray Review

On the surface Transcendence had plenty going for it but thanks to an apparently butchered script and a novice director, it turned something that could’ve been memorable into a laborious and tepid bore of a film. The cast is mostly wasted from the Depp’s malaise and supporting characters who are one dimensional and unmemorable while a veteran like Morgan Freeman is wasted and had a character who could’ve been cut.

Margin Call Blu-ray Review

Margin Call has some good things going for it like a good ensemble cast, some sharp dialogue and an interesting premise. Unfortunately that same premise only carries the movie so far before it becomes tedious and redundant. While none of the performances predominantly noteworthy, I did think Kevin Spacey and Paul Bettany stood out above the rest while Jeremy Irons played his usual douchebag/villain part, though toned down.
