I wasn’t the biggest fan of Land of the Dead when I saw it many years ago, but seeing it again now, I really enjoyed this entry within the Romero canon as the social commentary, albeit in your face, is present and there are characters one can actually care for.

“The Mentalist” season seven isn’t great but still a nice sendoff for a fun, if not uneven, series. The ensemble cast share good chemistry, including the one newcomer, and Simon Baker is as charming as ever while the cases are generally interesting enough. The DVD released by Warner, like the previous season sets, are rather basic and unfortunately we don’t get a nice retrospective featurette on this series’ run.

“The Mentalist” is a rare show that takes off from the pilot episode and keeps the high quality until the season finale, thanks to Simon Baker and an ensemble cast that works well together. Now six seasons in, it’s interesting to look back at this first season and I still enjoy it as much as I did the first go around. The Blu-ray released by Warner Archive provides for an excellent video transfer and the same audio and features.

Margin Call has some good things going for it like a good ensemble cast, some sharp dialogue and an interesting premise. Unfortunately that same premise only carries the movie so far before it becomes tedious and redundant. While none of the performances predominantly noteworthy, I did think Kevin Spacey and Paul Bettany stood out above the rest while Jeremy Irons played his usual douchebag/villain part, though toned down.
