The Man in the Iron Mask: Collector’s Edition 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

The Man in the Iron Mask is a well made adventure film featuring solid performances, namely Gabriel Byrne and Jeremy Irons and fairly impressive for being screenwriter Randall Wallace’s directorial debut, following up with his Academy Award winning screenplay for Braveheart.

The Flash 4K Ultra HD Review

The Flash is an entertaining if not also flawed movie that is probably is one of the better offerings from DC in a while, though maybe that’s faint praise. I did like the humor and of course seeing Michael Keaton back again was the highlight.

House of Gucci Blu-ray Review

House of Gucci is hardly a bad movie but it is unnecessarily long and I personally found the Italian accents from most of the cast to be a bit cartoonish, and I don’t believe that was Ridley Scott’s intention.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is an okay, if not exceptional lengthy, film and well worth checking out, especially if you’re a DC fan or just curious, plus splitting it into parts does help if you don’t want to watch in one sitting.

Reversal of Fortune: Archive Collection Blu-ray Review

Reversal of Fortune as a whole has its moments and features some prominent performances, particularly Jeremy Irons who won the Best Actor award, though the script and story could’ve been better.

Red Sparrow BD + Screen Caps

Red Sparrow is a mixed bag of a movie that excels on Jennifer Lawrence’s brave performance and some beautiful photography from both director Francis Lawrence and the cinematographer, but the film is bogged down by thinly written characters and a sometimes half-baked story and script.

Justice League 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Even though I did find Justice League entertaining enough, there’s no denying there was a certain amount of disappointment leading to the build-up and not being able to see what was originally intended, not to mention the deleted footage seen in the various trailers. If you go in just expecting a insubstantial popcorn flick, it’s fine, but it certainly did not live up to the title.

Review: The Lion King: The Signature Collection BD + Screen Caps

This “Signature Collection” release of The Lion King isn’t anything special but the video and audio transfers are both pitch perfect and while the features aren’t that great,  it’s nice to see this amazing movie get back on Blu-ray.

Review: Assassin’s Creed 4K/BD + Screen Caps

Assassin’s Creed, from the standpoint of someone who is not a gamer, actually wasn’t a bad movie, flawed for sure, but still decent enough mainly for Michael Fassbender more so than the plot, which was at times confusing, or the writing.

Review: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – Ultimate Edition BD + Screen Caps

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: Ultimate Edition does plenty things to correct the hacked up theatrical version though if you didn’t like the plot the first go-around, the UE won’t change your mind. For myself, as a fan of Batman in particular, found it entertaining mainly for Ben Affleck’s portrayal as the Dark Knight and a nice glimpse of what’s to come for Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Beautiful Creatures Blu-ray Review

Beautiful Creatures is hardly a perfect fantasy movie but it did at least surpass my expectations thanks to the fact it’s a competently film that is way above anything the Twilight movies have done. The two leads are amazing and some of the visual effects are well done even if the story grows a tad thin for its two-hour running time.

The Words Blu-ray Review

The Words may not be as special of a film as it things it is, but there are many aspects which I did like from the multi-level story to some good performances including Zoe Saldana, Dennis Quaid, and especially, Jeremy Irons who deserves far more attention than he’s received. And despite any problems I had with the screenplay itself, I still found the film mostly compelling and at least worth a look if only once.
