The Final Word on Physical Media
Without the weird-ass ending, Armed Response would’ve just been another non-descript, run-of-the-mill direct-to-video action-thriller, one that will only catch your seeing Wesley Snipes on the cover. As it is, this isn’t a good movie from the acting to the screenplay and should be avoided.
This is a great collection of Porky Pig cartoons, 101 in fact, and just an all around excellent set for any fan of the character or animation style.

My Blue Heaven isn’t, in my mind, some comedy classic or anything but still a safe, inoffensive and enjoyable enough thanks in large part to Steve Martin’s larger-than-life performance and on-screen charms.
Unlike the recently released Transformers: The Last Knight, which was a dull movie in itself, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was at least passably boring and was mercifully only two hours long. But like Transformers, this franchise just needs to come to a close as neither is very creative or, worse yet, entertaining.

Home for the Holidays is, to me anyway, holiday classic that probably doesn’t get the attention it deserves. While Planes, Trains and Automobiles is in its own right a great Thanksgiving film, this one deserves its place on the holiday as well.
Line of Duty: Series 4 is another solid entry into this BBC series that sees the addition of Thandie Newton into the lineup as perhaps the season antagonist and while she doesn’t exactly give a nuanced performance, I thought she fit in well.
Warm Bodies is a breath of fresh air in what I consider to be the somewhat stale zombie sub-genre with a well written screenplay, based off of a novel, and two wonderful performances from Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer.
Cult of Chucky is an entertaining little entry into the franchise and although I don’t think it’s some brilliant horror flick or anything, the blending of it with dark humor worked and so I did find myself engaged.
Certain Women is a fine independent quasi-ensemble-interconnected ensemble that features some wonderful performances by Laura Dern, Michelle Williams, Kristen Stewart and Lily Gladstone.
It Stains the Blood Red isn’t a half-bad independent zombie horror flick thanks to an interesting story and solid enough performance by Brittany Allen, though not entirely sure if I’ll revisit this any time soon.
As the first 30-minutes went by in A Ghost Story, I became really concerned the remaining hour would be a snooze-fest or worse, instead, it was evocatively beautiful with some clever sequences that did manage to keep me captivated to the bittersweet end.
A Fish Called Wanda finally gets the proper Blu-ray treatment with a remastered video which puts the 2011 release to shame and this is a movie that deserved it as it is an often hilarious comedy featuring wonderful performances, especially Kevin Kline who earned the Academy Award.
The Suspicious Death of a Minor is an uneven but still entertaining enough Italian crime-drama that excels more on the performance of its lead, Claudio Cassinelli.

The Moderns is an environmentally rich drama that has shades of Robert Altman which makes sense as director Alan Rudolph was a disciple of his, and even a little Woody Allen in some respects. It’s not the most fascinating tale or anything but the performances by both Keith Carradine and Linda Fiorentino were both top great.

I know Joseph W. Sarno has a minor cult following, but can’t say I’m much of a fan and Red Roses of Passion didn’t change that opinion, although Patricia McNair did make for a good lead with a plot that didn’t exactly capture my attention.
