Hawaii Five-0 comes to an end after a fairly impressive 10 season run and while the acting I don’t think was ever top notch, some of the stories, thanks to the locations, were entertaining.
Evil is a dark but engaging supernatural crime-drama featuring a solid cast headlined by Katja Herbers, Mike Colter and Michael Emerson being as creepy as ever. The season lays a good foundation for a second season.
Carla Gugino is such an underrated actress and seeing her lead another series like Jett, she is perfection and hopefully this sees a second season and not cancelled too soon like Karen Sisco.
A Good Woman is Hard to Find, even with the issues with the script and editing, still is a decent enough drama-thriller worth checking out as Sarah Bolger gives a well rounded performance.
This A Deadly Place collection is an… interesting collection of movies and while these aren’t high quality material, I’m sure they have their fans and a few I checked out were quasi-entertaining.
Harley Quinn: The Complete First Season features some great animation and Kaley Cuoco isn’t bad voicing the lead, but the storytelling never worked for me, although the characterization of HQ seemed spot-on.
Gunsmoke isn’t usually my cup of tea but I did find the series to be rather compelling and features a nice ensemble cast led way by James Arness and the show does harkens back to a simpler time, although for its time, probably was more real compared with other programming in the 1950s and 60s.
Criminal Minds: The Final Season was certainly letdown and while this was limited to only 10 episodes, the writers didn’t give the cast a whole lot to do and the stories were not all that interesting.
Jamestown: The Complete Collection is now available on DVD from PBS, the three seasons contained in a single DVD case, nice for those looking for space-saving individuals.
The West Wing this is not, but Madam Secretary is a fine enough television series with a respectable cast, though some of the writing, and dialogue especially, wasn’t great.
The Night Clerk from director Michael Cristofer (whose last film was 2001’s Original Sin) is a mystery-thriller starring Tye Sheridan, Ana de Armas, John Leguizamo, Helen Hunt and Johnathon Schaech and is available on DVD April 7th.
Cupid is a fun enough concept I guess but the execution didn’t meet the potential and doesn’t help that the acting was rather bad on just about everybody’s part, not to mention that killer cupid was pretty hilarious more so than menacing.
The Affair: The Complete Series includes all five seasons of the drama-mystery starring Dominic West, Maura Tierney, Ruth Wilson, Joshua Jackson and Anna Paquin.
Years and Years is a Limited Television series originally airing on BBC and later in the States, on HBO, featuring Emma Thompson. The DVD from the Warner Archive Collection is out on February 25th.
