Seized is a throwaway yet better-than-expected direct-to-video action-thriller that doesn’t break any new ground whatsoever but found relatively entertaining thanks to Scott Adkins and some moderately well done stunt work.
The Vanished is a new mystery-thriller from Paramount starring Thomas Jane, Anne Heche, Jason Patric and Peter Facinelli who also wrote and directed. The DVD is available for purchase on October 20th.
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is available on both Blu-ray (MOD) and DVD from Paramount. The series, which was cancelled in late August, stars Natalie Dormer, Daniel Zovatto and Nathan Lane.
American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules isn’t as bad as one would expect for a DTV film and is probably on par or even slightly better than some of the other American Pie Present films thanks to a likeable enough cast.
Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo is a fun entry into the DTV line of animated movies. At only 76-minutes long, it’s a fine time-waster and I suspect families will enjoy this one.
Are You Afraid of the Dark? is the 2019 revival of the popular supernatural horror series of the 1990s and comes to DVD that includes three “fan-favorite” episodes from the classic series.
Let It Snow had some potential squandered when two-thirds is just one character running away from a generic, non-imposing killer, although at least some of the locations weren’t too bad.
Paramount Home Entertainment releases the Gunsmoke: Movie Collection, which includes Return to Dodge, The Last Apache and To the Last Man, onto DVD in one set, though the discs were previously released individually.
Magnum P.I.: Season Two stars Jay Hernandez and Perdita Weeks and arrives on DVD September 1st. Features include the cross-over episode with Hawaii Five-O, a couple of featurettes and a gag reel.
Blue Bloods: The Tenth Season, starring Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes, arrives on DVD August 18th through CBS Paramount and includes two featurettes and deleted scenes.
NCIS: New Orleans – The Sixth Season finds some more soap opera-esque storylines and characters and while this is still my least favorite of the franchise, I do like Scott Bakula even with his cringey Orleans’s accent.
