The 355 is a movie that feels awfully familiar from beginning to end and although I can respect some of the action scenes and stunt work, there’s really not very much here that was entertaining with a thin plot and characters.

I have no idea how true I, Tonya really was given the contrasting accounts from the two primary sources, in conjunction with any inserts Hollywood generally includes in these “Based on True Story” movies, but taken for what it is, it’s a well made movie succeeding thanks to the performances by both Robbie and Janney.

The most intriguing aspect of Steven Soderbergh’s latest heist film, Logan Lucky, was who exactly wrote it as “Rebecca Blunt” apparently doesn’t exist. Beyond that, the crime and comedy aspects didn’t appeal to me at all and I found the film to be a bit dull at times.

The Martian: Extended Edition is a well made sci-fi thriller but admittedly, I think the theatrical version is tighter though there are a couple nice additions to the Extended Cut while other scenes weren’t necessary. As for this Blu-ray release, which should’ve been the initial release anyway, it offers up amazing video/audio transfers and some extensive bonus material.

There are many reasons I should dislike, even hate, Gone from the simple story to the one-dimensional supporting characters, but there’s something about Amanda Seyfried that elevates this from forgettable made-for-television drivel to semi-forgettable, slightly entertaining, direct-to-video release. For sure, that’s not high praise but I think if you’re a fan of Seyfried’s, then it might be worth checking out, especially for a slow Saturday afternoon.
