Air America isn’t a great war-drama-comedy especially compared with the classics, but I still found it mildly entertaining and both Gibson and Downey Jr. acquit themselves fairly well.
Lethal Weapon comes to 4K Ultra HD and while the movie is still classic for good reasons, and is still so much of fun to watch, this 4K Ultra HD release has much to be desired with two featurettes while none of the bonus material was ported over.

Bird on a Wire seemed to have the ingredients for a fun action-comedy with the starpowers, especially for 1990, of both Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn, however despite their individual charms they really didn’t share great chemistry.
Fatman isn’t especially memorable but I always enjoy seeing a gruff Mel Gibson and his portrayal of a grounded Santa Claus. The movie is saved thanks to an entertaining final sequence as well as Gibson and Walton Goggins.

Force of Nature isn’t the worst movie around and from a technical perspective, like most of these Grindstone/EFO pictures, competently made, but the script, and in particular the finale, needed some work.

Daddy’s Home 2 might not be very good and some Christmas comedy-classic-in-the-making this is not, but I did manage to chuckle a few times here and there and I did genuinely enjoy seeing Mel Gibson generally being a dick, otherwise it’s an unmemorable film.
Blood Father is a beautifully crafted drama about redemption and reconciliation featuring two great and emotional performances by Mel Gibson and Erin Moriarty in conjunction with an efficient story that doesn’t wear out its welcome with superfluous scenes.
The Singing Detective is a bit jarring in its presentation yet there’s some fine moments especially with the performance from Robert Downey Jr. and to some extent Mel Gibson if only for the weird hairpiece and make-up which was more distracting than anything. The Blu-ray release by Olive is decent enough I guess but there were some minor issues with the video while the audio is better than expected. That said, for the money it’s a bit much.
