Captain Marvel Blu-ray Review

Captain Marvel has a flawed even messy plot yet I did find some entertainment value, mostly with Samuel L. Jackson, the de-aging effects and the visual effects as a whole, and while Brie Larson doesn’t quite shine my hope is she gets something to work with on the eventual sequel.

Spinning Man Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

Spinning Man, while imperfect, does at least try something new to the sometimes tired crime-thriller genre, taking viewers away from the investigation aspects and looking into the lives, and particularly mind, of a prime suspect and his devolution.

Live by Night was Ben Affleck’s passion project that, ironically, lacked a whole lot of passion on screen mixed in with a hodgepodge of a plot, far too many side characters and performances that didn’t quite connect on screen despite the talent assembled.

Review: Mill Creek Entertainment Quad-Film Set DVDs

These three sets are more bargain releases for Mill Creek Entertainment with titles previously on DVD and in some cases Blu-ray so unless you don’t already own these, it might be worth picking up at $10 a pop, though don’t expect any frills and the video and audio transfers are so-so at best.

Review: Trust Me DVD

Trust Me is not the perfect comedy-drama and probably could’ve used a couple rewrites but as a follow-up to his 2008 film, Choke, it’s not bad and he assembles (no pun intended) a fine set of actors and an at least engaging story. The DVD released by Anchor Bay sadly is basic with no features while the audio/video transfers are merely adequate.

Mr. Popper’s Penguins Blu-ray Review

Mr. Popper’s Penguins is a fun movie for the entire family. Sure, the plot is nonsensical and silly, the acting by the kids is pretty bad and the jokes are easy, but I managed to laugh a few times.
