The Lost City 4K Ultra HD Review

The Lost City is a perfectly watchable action-adventure-comedy that combines Romancing the Stone and Uncharted and while I can’t say it’s anything amazing or even memorable, it’s fine as a one-time viewing and rental.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation 4K Ultra HD Review

G.I. Joe: Retaliation actually isn’t a terrible movie, thanks in large part to Dwayne Johnson, and a fair step up from Rise of the Cobra but it’s still a relatively generic action movie with nothing discernibly memorable about the action set pieces or the standard plot itself.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra 4K Ultra HD Review

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra had some entertaining elements but between some sleepwalking performances and some shoddy visual effects, even by 2008/09 standards, this was a mess of a film.

She’s the Man Blu-ray Review

She’s the Man might not exactly be some teen comedy classic but had a few moments here and there and was a launching pad for Channing Tatum. The new Blu-ray comes from Paramount released on March 3rd.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle 4K/BD + BD Screen Caps

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is a bit of a step down from the first film but thanks to the cast – primarily Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Julianne Moore – it does make for an entertaining enough sequel.

Logan Lucky 4K/BD + BD Screen Caps

The most intriguing aspect of Steven Soderbergh’s latest heist film, Logan Lucky, was who exactly wrote it as “Rebecca Blunt” apparently doesn’t exist. Beyond that, the crime and comedy aspects didn’t appeal to me at all and I found the film to be a bit dull at times.

Review: The Lego Batman Movie 4K/BD + Screen Caps

The Lego® Batman Movie does have some funny moments and great scenes with inside jokes for any Batman fan out there. The downside is the plot is rather thin but the message is one that kids and adults could get something out of while the jokes do run a bit dry and the film could’ve been cut down.

Review: Jupiter Ascending 4K UHD + Screen Caps

It’s not hard to see why Jupiter Ascending was delayed 9 months (and I don’t buy the official reasons) as it was one cluster-f of a film and the problem is, it wasn’t even an entertaining cluster-f (unlike Batman & Robin). The acting is pretty wooden though these actors aren’t given much to work with.

Review: Hail, Caesar! BD + Screen Caps

Hail, Caesar for me was a major misstep for the Coen Brothers even with what certainly passion behind their love letter to 1950s Hollywood. Outside of George Clooney and Tilda Swinton, the other cast members were more or less cameo appearances.

Review: The Hateful Eight BD + Screen Caps

The Hateful Eight is easily my least favorite of Tarantino’s films and while technically speaking it is a masterpiece especially with a couple of the performances (Russell and Leigh in particular), the cinematography and score, the rest was an utter chore to sit through and it felt every bit of its nearly three hour length.

Review: Jupiter Ascending BD + Screen Caps

It’s not hard to see why Jupiter Ascending was delayed 9 months (and I don’t buy the official reasons) as it was one cluster-f of a film and the problem is, it wasn’t even an entertaining cluster-f. The acting is rather wooden though these actors aren’t given much to work with but on the plus side it looks and sound fantastic, even demo worthy, so if there’s any reason to pop this movie in, it’d be to show off your home theater.

22 Jump Street Blu-ray Review

22 Jump Street, as with its predecessor, was a surprisingly hilarious movie both mocking the genre while also giving us a half-decent plot, even if its copied from the first for a fair portion of the movie, and two leads who share some great on-screen comedic chemistry and timing.

Stop-Loss Blu-ray Review

Stop-Loss is a well made war-drama featuring several fine performances from Ryan Phillippe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum. I wasn’t floored by the film and it doesn’t even compete with the best war movies and it doesn’t possess much replay value, but it might be worth a watch.

White House Down Blu-ray Review

White House Down is a forgettable action movie which heavily borrows from other, often better, movies most notable Die Hard. The acting isn’t bad though Foxx and Tatum don’t share great chemistry and the screenplay is riddled with lame lines that don’t hit their mark and don’t get me started on the plot.
