Inside Man: Most Wanted might not be great and pales in comparison to its predecessor, but I suppose it is mildly entertaining for what it is and I do appreciate it didn’t shy away from a connection to the first movie.
Shaft is a movie I went with minimal expectations so on those grounds, I guess it exceeded them, and honestly there were some genially entertaining moments and Samuel L. Jackson, and to a lesser extent Richard Roundtree, were the highlights of the film.
Child’s Play is actually a fun flick that re-imagines the original just enough to kind of be its own thing, with some similar plot elements yet still feels fresh even being in the killer doll sub-genre.
Who Saw Her Die? isn’t a great film within the giallo subgenre but it is noteworthy that is stars, at least in physical form, George Lazenby but the movie itself doesn’t have the best pacing and does take its time to get the plot moving along.
A Score to Settle is an uneven revenge-drama but through the first two-thirds, Nic Cage seemed to be under control, but by the final third, when emotions are high, we get the Cage we know and generally mock.
I Spy is a half-baked TV-to-movie adaptation that flopped at the box office and it’s easy to see why, not only does it feature a weak plot, but the chemistry between Wilson and Murphy was not there.
Hellbound: Hellraiser II is a lesser movie than its predecessor for sure, but still was just enough bonkers to make it rather entertaining, though we only get a slight glimpse into the origins of the Cenobites.
Hellraiser normally isn’t my kind of horror movie but still, had plenty of entertainment value even if the plot itself was a bit of a mess at times and the Cenobites, which were interesting designs, didn’t have nearly enough screen time.
Anna might not break new ground and could be considered a second-rate La Femme Nikita or, more recently, Atomic Blonde, but it still was rather entertaining and Sasha Luss in her first major role actually was pretty decent.
Fear No Evil is not a great movie and certainly rather cheesy especially when it came to the make-up effects but there is a certain amount of fun to be had even if, personally, these supernatural-horror films aren’t my thing.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is by no means terrible but it certainly is a weak ending to a franchise and the main issue with this movie is lacked any real emotion, even though the technical aspects weren’t bad.
Supergirl: The Complete Fourth Season might on the heavy-handed side in its dealings with current events, but even so the performances for the most part have been respectable especially from Melissa Benoist who embodies the role so well.
Arrow: The Complete Seventh Season isn’t a marked improvement over the past few seasons but at least a bit more entertaining and a tighter storyline that I actually enjoyed for the most part.
Vampires isn’t a great horror movie and certainly not top shelf in John Carpenter’s vast resume, but it does have its moments, including a fun performance from James Woods, and an interesting, even unique, origin of the vampires.
NOVA: The Planets is an alright documentary series though I have seen better produced from The Science Channel and the like, though this is still well worth checking out for anyone interested in our outer-space neighbors.
