Game Night might not be one day some comedy classic but it is an awfully fun movie that features plenty of laughs and a entertaining ensemble cast led way by Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams and, albeit a small part, Michael C. Hall.
Black Mass was a decent movie however with this cast lineup and an interesting figure in the history of mobsters, I didn’t find it terribly compelling and as good of a performance Depp gives, his look was distracting.
Abigail is another fun and entertaining horror-thriller (with dark comedy) from Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett and is inline with Ready or Not.
Anchorman isn’t a favorite of mine but all these years later is still quotable and a lot of fun to watch with Will Ferrell in all his over-the-top glory.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga isn’t a complete misfire as there are some good moments but as great of a character that Furiosa was in Mad Max: Fury Road, I would’ve preferred a sequel rather than this prequel and maybe coming out sooner.
Tarot is just another run-of-the-mill supernatural-horror film that doesn’t break any new ground with the well worn genre but worse, has not one ounce of entertainment value with cardboard cutout characters with superficial personalities.
Twister might not be feature an award-winning screenplay but it is a fun summer popcorn fest that even nearly 30 years later still holds up in both entertainment but also visual effects and a great cast.
Girlfight is a well done drama featuring a breakout performance from a young, pre-Fast and the Furious, Michelle Rodriguez and despite not seeing it in over two decades, still holds up and is well worth checking out as it likely went under the radar.
The Flash: The Original Series is a fun enough superhero show that has all the hallmarks of the early 90s and before the subgenre was taken seriously. Still, John Wesley Shipp is wonderful as Barry Allen.
Once Upon a Time in the West is a classic western for good reason and features great performances from all involved, but especially Henry Fonda, Jason Robards and Charles Bronson.
Bound is still my favorite of The Wachowskis movies, even above The Matrix, which itself has also aged quite well. This one has two amazing performances from Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon and Joe Pantoliano for his part was wonderfully chaotic.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is I suppose one of the better offerings in the MonsterVerse but that may be faint praise given, outside of Kong: Skull Island, these movies tend to be forgettable and this one pays less focus on the humans at least.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan finally gets the character due treatment, though I was entertained by the feature films, giving him time to develop over the five season run, and John Krasinski showcasing his action and dramatic chops.
Stand and Deliver debuts on Blu-ray courtesy of the Warner Archive Collection receiving a new video restoration and stars Edward James Olmos, Lou Diamond Phillips, Rosana De Soto and Andy Garcia and is out March 26.
12 Strong is an action-war movie starring Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon and Michael Pena released in 2018. The 4K Ultra HD release from Warner comes with two featurettes.
