Night School Blu-ray Review

Night School is a flawed but fun enough 1981 film that’s part slasher part giallo that isn’t filled with many surprises yet it’s still entertaining if only for some decently suspense-filled scenes and a, ahem, fine performance from Rachel Ward.

Better Watch Out BD + Screen Caps

Better Watch Out might not be some Christmas horror classic but it is surprisingly well done featuring two great performances from Olivia DeJonge and Levi Miller who is absolutely mental.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 4K + BD Screen Caps

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a solid entry into the franchise, the first of the five from Mike Newell, and does a decent job balancing the dark elements with some brighter scenery, a departure from Alfonso Cuarón’s Prisoner of Azakban.

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions BD

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions: Complete Seasons 1 & 2, as a series, isn’t quite as frenetic as the anime I’ve comes across over the years and this one does at least have some charm especially in regards to its lead characters.

The Best of Agatha Christie: Volumes One and Two DVD

Although some of these were released on Blu-ray (as well as DVD), if you didn’t already own these, The Best of Agatha Christie sets are well worth picking up especially if you like the author’s adaptations.

High School Lover DVD

The only reason High School Lover, a Lifetime movie, received any notice, is because it stars an A-list(ish) actor in James Franco (he also executive produced), otherwise it’s just another bad made-for-TV flick that features some sub-par performances, Franco especially.

The Crucifixion BD + Screen Caps

The Crucifixion is, plainly, not a good movie and deservedly will get lost with the numerous others of the possession-horror subgenre though if I had anything positive to say, Sophie Cookson actually wasn’t half bad considering the dull plot and poor writing.

Logan Lucky 4K/BD + BD Screen Caps

The most intriguing aspect of Steven Soderbergh’s latest heist film, Logan Lucky, was who exactly wrote it as “Rebecca Blunt” apparently doesn’t exist. Beyond that, the crime and comedy aspects didn’t appeal to me at all and I found the film to be a bit dull at times.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Review

The Hitman’s Bodyguard is a bit uneven in terms of both the action and comedy, but with the dynamic between Reynolds and Jackson, it’s hard not to have a good time with the excessive violence and language, though the film hardly breaks new ground for the mixed-genre.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 4K + BD Screen Caps

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is perhaps one of my favorites of the series and kind of a shame director Alfonso Cuaron didn’t return to do more of these and it was a nice, and necessary, change-up as Harry’s storyline advances to darker territories.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 4K + BD Screen Caps

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is my least favorite of the series yet it’s still entertaining with a compelling enough mystery surrounding the plot and it was nice seeing the young cast becoming comfortable in their respective roles while the addition of Kenneth Branagh gives the darker tone, compared to Sorcerer’s Stone, some levity.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Review

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone might not be perfect, it was however the perfect way to introduce audiences to this world and characters we would follow for the next several years. Even so, I was thoroughly entertained and they really did a great job casting the three unknowns and surrounding them with some excellent talent.

The Glass Castle BD + Screen Caps

Despite characters who came across as unlikeable, The Glass Castle is by no means a terrible drama, not in the least, because this engaging cast headlined by Brie Larson and Woody Harrelson, does make it watchable if nothing else.
