The Virgin Suicides: The Criterion Collection 4K Ultra HD Review

The Virgin Suicides is a movie that didn’t have a huge impact on me then and now I can appreciate it for its direction and the performances, but nothing else otherwise in terms of any emotional impact.

The Silence of the Lambs 4K Ultra HD Review

The Silence of the Lambs is easily one of my favorite movies of all-time (top 10) and is probably The Godfather of the suspense-thriller genre with incredible performances from Foster, Hopkins and Levine and an all-around great experience.

Nashville: Paramount Presents Blu-ray Review

Nashville is a lengthy but ultimately decent ensemble musical-drama-comedy from Robert Altman and features David Arkin, Barbara Baxley, Ned Beatty, Karen Black, Keith Carradine, Shelley Duvall, Jeff Goldblum amongst many, many others.

Urban Cowboy: 40th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Review

Urban Cowboy is an overly long modernistic western-drama that might feature the normally charismatic John Travolta, but here he is playing just an unlikeable character.

The Hunt for Red October 4K Ultra HD Review

The Hunt for Red October isn’t a favorite of mine within the film franchise but is still a well done, submarine-based thriller and Alec Baldwin made for a fine Jack Ryan, just a shame he couldn’t continue beyond this film.

Apocalypse Now: Final Cut 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Hopefully this will satisfy the legendary Francis Ford Coppola. Personally, while I did love Apocalypse Now: Final Cut, and give it an A+ grade, it’s not perfection as the French plantation scene still drags the film down.

Castle Rock: The Complete First Season 4K UHD & Blu-ray Review

Castle Rock: The Complete First Season is a fun and entertaining show and that’s coming from someone who generally isn’t the biggest fan of Stephen King; however as a movie buff, there are cool references to some of the King-adapted feature films.

Jack Ryan: 5-Film Collection 4K UHD Review + BD Screen Caps

The Jack Ryan Collection is a solid release from Paramount for what I consider a nice franchise, however there never was one that stoodout, each being fine filmmaking and storytelling and nice performances from the respective actors.

The Silence of the Lambs is easily one of my favorite movies of all-time (top 10) and is probably The Godfather of the suspense-thriller genre with incredible performances from Foster, Hopkins and Levine and an all-around great experience that has held up incredibly well over the years.

Review: Daredevil: The Complete Second Season BD + Screen Caps

Daredevil: The Complete Second Season is yet another success story from the Netflix/Marvel line-up that I’ve seen and this season features some solid performances, even though I still can’t buy Charlie Cox in the lead, headlined by Jon Bernthal who is great as The Punisher.

Review: The Barber BD + Screen Caps

The Barber isn’t an altogether terrible movie but it doesn’t exactly break new ground in the genre and greatly benefits from the performance from veteran actor Scott Glenn. The Blu-ray released by Arc Entertainment offers good video/audio transfers and only some deleted scenes and a trailer.
