Superman: 5-Film Collection 4K Ultra HD Review

The Superman: 5-Film Collection has four movies making their debuts on 4K, though really only two of them are worth a damn. I suppose if you’re a Superman fan, maybe it’s worth it, but probably only when it’s on sale.

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut 4K Ultra HD Review

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut does a valiant job giving viewers Donner’s original concept for the sequel and utilizing not only some new visual effects but some rehearsal footage to give as complete of a vision as possible.

The Godfather Trilogy 4K Ultra HD Review

The Godfather Trilogy is another (almost) great set from Paramount with a plethora of bonus features and excellent video and audio transfers. My only qualm is, like the DVD set, they’ve gone back to the cardboard digi-pak which means you’re SOL if any of them get damaged.

The Night of the Following Day Blu-ray Review

The Night of the Following Day might have an intrigueing title, the movie itself doesn’t exactly live up to it. Marlon Brando gives a fine performance, though his behind-the-scenes antics probably were more interesting.

Reflections in a Golden Eye Blu-ray Review

Reflections in a Golden Eye debuts on Blu-ray with both a colorized version and a “gold”-hued one as originally director John Huston intended.

Apocalypse Now: Final Cut 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Hopefully this will satisfy the legendary Francis Ford Coppola. Personally, while I did love Apocalypse Now: Final Cut, and give it an A+ grade, it’s not perfection as the French plantation scene still drags the film down.

Hollywood’s Greatest Screen Legends: 50 of the Best Actresses & Actors of All-Time DVD

Hollywood’s Greatest Screen Legends set might be cool in theory but these are episodes of something called “Hollywood Remembers” from 2000 and these were not professionally produced though you can at least see the passion as I doubt this was some money ploy.

Superman: The Movie: Extended Cut Blu-ray Review

It is quite the time we live in for media, even if the physical is on the decline, as now after decades where it lived only on the bootleg forum, we finally get to see Superman: The Movie – Extended Cut aka the TV Version, restored in HD and although I’ll be sticking with the other version.

Review: The Chase BD + Screen Caps

The Chase is an all-star centered crime-drama and an acting tour-de-force from Marlon Brando to Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. It’s somewhat of a forgotten film but thankfully finds a home on Blu-ray through Twilight Time’s Limited Edition series.

Superman: The Complete Anthology Blu-ray Review

The Superman: The Complete Anthology is a fine set for sure and while the features are certainly comprehensive between vintage featurettes and multiple expansive documentaries and commentaries, but in particular the video has much to be desired. This isn’t to say they don’t look good but compared with the work Fox did with their Alien complete set, this one pales by comparison.
