Ocean’s Trilogy 4K Ultra HD Review

The Ocean’s Trilogy finally makes its debut on 4K Ultra HD and both the video and audio transfers are solid upgrades over the old 2007 Blu-ray release and although a new retrospective featurette would’ve been nice.

Interstellar 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Review

Interstellar very well may be my favorite Christopher Nolan movie, perhaps even edging out The Dark Knight which is saying something from a Batman fan. The performance from Matthew McConaughey was magnificent and powerful and the story itself captivating.

A Ghost Story BD + Screen Caps

As the first 30-minutes went by in A Ghost Story, I became really concerned the remaining hour would be a snooze-fest or worse, instead, it was evocatively beautiful with some clever sequences that did manage to keep me captivated to the bittersweet end.

Review: Manchester by the Sea BD + Screen Caps

Manchester by the Sea is a film that excels on the performance by Casey Affleck with honorable mentions toward Michelle Williams in her brief role and the young Lucas Hedges in one of his first major stint.

Review: Triple 9 BD + Screen Caps

Triple 9 didn’t exactly fulfill its potential given the cast and a solid start yet still it’s very entertaining with some well shot action scenes and fine performances by Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie and Clifton Collins Jr. who at times steals the show.

However, is it worth seeing? I don’t think you’ll regret at least giving it a rental as there are some solid performances and a couple truly good scenes.

ParaNorman Blu-ray Review

ParaNorman isn’t a perfect movie by any stretch and the story isn’t all that interesting, at least in the middle part, but one can’t help but admire the stop-motion technique and just what’s involved to make a 90-minute feature film. Along with the voice casting, the movie is absolutely fantastic to look at.

Tower Heist Blu-ray Review

Tower Heist has a few issues dealing the plot’s logic but thanks to a fine ensemble cast, I’m able to overlook any of the script’s shortcomings; it gets the job done with both the crime and comedy.
