Halloween H20 4K Ultra HD Review

Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later I thought was an entertaining movie and although it does have that late 90s slasher vibe revitalized thanks to Scream, it’s still a decent enough Halloween film, and one better than the more recent reboot trilogy.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage Blu-ray Review

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is slightly better than its predecessor yet still not great although Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom was easily the highlight while we still get the CGI vs. CGI fight sequence during the finale which I find rather boring.

Focus Features: 10-Movie Spotlight Collection Blu-ray Review

The Focus Features: 10-Movie Spotlight Collection is a good selection of dramas, some better than others and one that is a personal favorite of mine (Lost in Translation). That being said, this is only worth picking up if you don’t own any of the 10 films, though the cost per movie is reasonable.

Shutter Island 4K Ultra HD Review

Shutter Island is an effective psychological-thriller featuring some good performances from an impressive cast, but what stood out to me was Scorsese’s precision direction.

After the Wedding Blu-ray Review

After the Wedding features some great performances by a respectable cast that includes Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and Billy Crudup, along with the young and talented Abby Quinn, but the film falters in the script and editing.

Venom Blu-ray Review

Venom had the right ingredients from an incredibly talented actor starring, a multi Oscar-nominated actress in the love interest role and an interesting anti-hero in the form of black goo. Unfortunately, the execution wasn’t the best.

I Feel Pretty Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

I Feel Pretty is a movie with a fine message but falls flat with poorly written jokes and a plot that doesn’t exactly feel fresh, a rehash of something like Shallow Hal.

The Greatest Showman BD + Screen Caps

The Greatest Showman may not be the greatest movie musical to come down the pike with some average storytelling, but the musical performances themselves and songs more than made up for its shortcomings.

Certain Women: BD + Screen Caps

Certain Women is a fine independent quasi-ensemble-interconnected ensemble that features some wonderful performances by Laura Dern, Michelle Williams, Kristen Stewart and Lily Gladstone.

Review: Species BD + Screen Caps

Species is simply not a very good movie, not even sure it’s in the so bad it’s good category either, but I did find a modest amount of entertainment value, albeit trashy, for it being a B-horror flick and honestly it’s aged better than I thought.

Review: Manchester by the Sea BD + Screen Caps

Manchester by the Sea is a film that excels on the performance by Casey Affleck with honorable mentions toward Michelle Williams in her brief role and the young Lucas Hedges in one of his first major stint.

Oz the Great and Powerful Blu-ray Review

Oz the Great and Powerful is a fine piece of film making with Raimi and company doing a fine job at least tying it with The Wizard of Oz, although a side effect being, similar to the Star Wars prequels, you kind of delude the mystery of the Wizard by revealing it in a prequel. Even so, though, it’s an enjoyable and entertaining film that doesn’t quite hit its mark yet still passed the time nicely.
