Walking Tall: MVD Marquee Collection Blu-ray Review

Walking Tall is a fine enough action-crime movie and an early film in Dwayne Johnson’s career where he probably was just getting used to becoming the action-filled actor we know him to be today.

The House of the Dead Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

The House of the Dead was originally released, for some odd reason, as Alien Zone and as such really confused plenty of people. As for the movie itself, it’s kind of your standard horror film in vignette form, taking cues from The Twilight Zone though done a lot better years later with Tales from the Crypt.

Arrow: The Complete Sixth Season Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

Arrow: The Complete Sixth Season isn’t at all bad, though like the previous years, feels a bit crowded with the amount of members on the “Arrow” team; beyond that, the soap opera like storytelling isn’t all that interesting, though I did thoroughly enjoy the four-part cross-over episodes.

Wildling Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

Wildling is a sweet yet also haunting movie featuring a wonderful performance from the young and on-the-rise talent of Bel Powley while her more experienced co-stars with Brad Dourif and Liv Tyler both had some great scenes.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman – Rage of Atlantis + Screen Caps

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis is another fun entry in the direct-to-video line with a lot of the humor mostly working and some impressive animation for what it is.

Pyewacket Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

I had rather low expectations for Pyewacket both based on a really dumb sounding title, and still think it’s laughable, but also these direct-to-video supernatural-horror movies generally aren’t very good. Well, this one genuinely surprised me with a well told story and solid performances

Avengers: Infinity War 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Review + BD Screen Caps

Avengers: Infinity War was an amazing feat for comic book movies and although I don’t believe it’s the greatest one, it’s still a great accomplishment from all involved.

Marrowbone 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Review + BD Screen Caps

Marrowbone is an imperfect but effective enough horror-thriller that features some good performances, primarily from George MacKay and Anya Taylor-Joy, and an effective and visceral haunting atmosphere, though the film does lack character development.

Tully Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

Tully was a surprisingly well done drama from director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody, both teaming up again for another solid film. Along with those two, Charlize Theron turns in a wonderful and powerful performance.

Breaking In Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

Breaking In isn’t a fresh suspense/thriller as the story has been done, to some extent, done before though with the twist of a mother trying to break back into the fortified home. Gabrielle Union delivers a fine performance in what is in the end an entertaining throwaway thriller.

Affairs of State Blu-ray Review + Screen Caps

Affairs of State probably could’ve been a fun and cheesy erotic political thriller but at times it wanted to be taken a bit too seriously and send a message that only would resonate with one side of the aisle.

The Death of Superman 4K UHD & Blu-ray Review + BD Screen Caps

The Death of Superman was a great addition to DC’s Animated Movie line with a tight and well told adaptation of the famous story, doing far better justice than Superman: Doomsday, and some fine voice talent work in addition, though Rainn Wilson’s Lex Luthor sounded off.

Life of the Party Blu-ray Review

Life of the Party might be a far more tolerable Melissa McCarthy vehicle compared to Tammy and The Boss, but it’s still not all that good, either, with the humor rarely hitting the mark.

The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean + Screen Caps

The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean is a solid western which is saying something coming from someone who generally isn’t the biggest fan of the genre outside of the classics and it excels thanks to Paul Newman’s charms.
