The Batman 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

The Batman is a good film. Not great. I did like that Matt Reeves had a different and unique take on the character who has seen the big screen a handful of times dating back to 1989 and while there is room for improvement.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is another lackluster movie of this new franchise that, especially when we go to Hogwarts for a short time, made me wish I was watching the Harry Potter franchise instead of this one.

Kin 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Kin is a nice little drama-science fiction flick but is a victim of a bit of overreaction based on its initial trailer. That said, it is enjoyable enough even when you get a finale that felt like the end of the pilot episode.

Review: The Lego Batman Movie 4K/BD + Screen Caps

The Lego® Batman Movie does have some funny moments and great scenes with inside jokes for any Batman fan out there. The downside is the plot is rather thin but the message is one that kids and adults could get something out of while the jokes do run a bit dry and the film could’ve been cut down.

Review: Mad Max: Fury Road – Black & Chrome Edition BD + Screen Caps

Mad Max: Fury Road is a title that lives up to its name. The action is incredible and the characters outlandish yet awfully fun. It’s a great revival of the franchise from the creator himself and it features some of the most impressive stunt work captured to film with only moderate use of CGI to tie it all together.

Review: Allegiant BD + Screen Caps

Allegiant is the latest mundane entry in the Divergent Series and while I didn’t think it was classically bad and not an original moment from the production to the visual effects, heavily borrowing from other dystopian-set movies, I can’t say was bored and I at least did care about the Tris character.

Review: Insurgent 4K UDH

I know plenty have hated the Divergent Series thus far and although hardly great, I found portions at least semi-entertaining but that’s about it. Unlike Hunger Games: Catching Fire and to a lesser extent Mockingjay Part 1, Insurgent just kind of “is”.

Review: Divergent 4K UHD

Divergent is what I’d like to call a ‘nice’ movie. There’s nothing here terrible offensive but at the same time, it doesn’t break new ground either. The direction is more than adequate and the performance by Shailene Woodley is strong. But for all the good, the story structure is odd.

Review: Dope BD + Screen Caps

Dope is one of the sleeper hits of the summer with its throwback music to the 1990s, a compelling and interesting story, well written characters and fine performances all around but especially from a young and mostly unknown cast.

Unlike Hunger Games: Catching Fire and to a lesser extent Mockingjay Part 1, Insurgent just kind of “is”. There’s nothing really memorable and the performances are limited thanks to a screenplay that could’ve been better.

Divergent Blu-ray Review

Divergent is what I’d like to call a ‘nice’ movie. There’s nothing here terrible offensive but at the same time, it doesn’t break new ground either. The direction is more than adequate and the performances are good. But for all the good, the story structure is odd with the bulk of the time relegated to the training with another plotline almost an afterthought taking over the third act.
