Godzilla vs. Kong is a fun-filled entertaining action-monster schlock of a film. The effects work is well done and the story is good enough with the human elements thankfully taking a backseat to the two monsters.

Chaos Walking 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Chaos Walking has a more interesting back story than the story itself. The concept is interesting but the plot muddles along and outside of a couple decent scenes and performances from Holland and Ridley, doesn’t have very much memorable going for it.

The Grudge: The Untold Chapter Blu-ray Review

The Grudge (The Untold Chapter) isn’t a lazy sequel (or si-quel) and thanks to Nicolas Pesce does have an interesting and dark look, but the story isn’t up to par and does rely a bit much on the jump scares.

The Nun 4K Ultra HD Review

Very faint praise perhaps, but The Nun is perhaps the better of the three spin-ff movies? Yes, I meant a question mark there… It has a decent atmosphere to it, taking advantage of the Romanian landscape and creepy abbey. Having said that, it is at times pretty dull.

Review: The Hateful Eight BD + Screen Caps

The Hateful Eight is easily my least favorite of Tarantino’s films and while technically speaking it is a masterpiece especially with a couple of the performances (Russell and Leigh in particular), the cinematography and score, the rest was an utter chore to sit through and it felt every bit of its nearly three hour length.

The Heat Blu-ray Review

The Heat is a fun little twist on the buddy cop comedy and even though it doesn’t nearly measure up to Lethal Weapon both in terms of chemistry or the plot and villain, there’s just enough here to make it worthwhile. Both Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are wonderful together and McCarthy uses every opportunity to showcase her comedic talents, albeit at the expense of a coherent or merely serviceable plot. But I had fun with it and laughed at the right moments.
