The Conjuring: Last Rites is easily the weaker entry in the franchise and while I still like the dynamic between Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, the series has certainly waned at this point.

The Nun II isn’t unwatchable for sure and I do like Taissa Farmiga who possesses some of that lovely screen presence as her big sister, but the movie does not break any semblance of new ground in the possession-horror genre.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It might break the formula a bit but I found myself a little disconnected and the primary saving grace is once again with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, both still great together and gives the film the necessary heart.

Annabelle Comes Home is the finale in what can only be described a poor and clichéd spin-off series, despite some of the more technical accomplishments, thwarted by bad, lazy scripts.
I suppose it’s a good thing that I went into watching The Curse of La Llorona with zero expectations and even then, the movie couldn’t even measure up to that low standard.
Very faint praise perhaps, but The Nun is perhaps the better of the three spin-ff movies? Yes, I meant a question mark there… It has a decent atmosphere to it, taking advantage of the Romanian landscape and creepy abbey. Having said that, it is at times pretty dull.

James Wan’s The Conjuring 2 is the rare horror-sequel that at least matches the quality of the original with some genuine scares and well written character development for the Warrens in conjunction with fine performances by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
