Teen Wolf Too is really the quintessential example of a needless sequel, though not nearly as awful as something like Weekend at Bernie’s 2, not that’s all saying that much, even Michael J. Fox’s charm could’ve saved this.
Teen Wolf isn’t exactly a memorable film from the 1980s, not even the most memorable Michael J. Fox movie of 1985 for that matter, but it’s still a lot of fun and with that era, the make-up effects actually weren’t half and the movie itself is propelled on Fox’s charisma.
The Lovers isn’t great, a bit uneven at times and not entirely impactful in its drama, but I did enjoy seeing Debra Winger in a lead role and the chemistry between her and Tracy Letts is well done.
I am so sick of these found footage films and Phoenix Forgotten is one of the poorer outings, even when I went in with low of low expectations. Two-thirds of the movie is utterly dull and the finale hardly can make up for the lack of interest that came before, to go along with cardboard cutout characters.
And You Thought There is Never a Girl Online is at least a different kind of anime fantasy movie in terms of an actually interesting story, characters and, pleasantly, animation style which I found a bit more creative compared with the others I’ve come across.
The Dinner could’ve been an intimate film instead is a jumbled mess focusing on a cast of characters who, frankly, are not very likeable especially throwing in the morality at its core that shouldn’t be disputed.
Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (but were afraid to ask) is a series of comedy vignettes featuring Woody Allen, Burt Reynolds and Gene Wilder amongst others and while none of these were exactly gems (I didn’t laugh once during the jester part), it’s still at least okay.
While The Sea Chase is an interesting viewpoint for WWII following the German side, it was utterly distracting seeing someone like John Wayne trying to pass himself off as a German captain, not even bothering with a fake German accent.
I can’t stress at how much I loathed Song to Song. I’ve seen plenty of bad movies, but none of them have had me in so much pain to sit through since, well, Malick’s To the Wonder, with only a few very minor redeeming values with the performances by a talented cast.
Slither is a wild and fun creature-horror that has plenty of that James Gunn humor that has worked so well in his Guardians films. The cast headlined by Nathan Fillion, the beautiful Elizabeth Banks and inscrutable Michael Rooker are fantastic and although I don’t think it’s some classic, this is one I’ll check out again.
Where the Boys Are, on the surface looks like another 1960s-era beach party films but is a excellent coming-of-age drama/comedy and features some wonderful and even heartfelt performances from Dolores Hart, George Hamilton and Paula Prentiss.
S.W.A.T.: Under Siege is better than what I thought this would and while I might be rating on a scale considering expectations and budget, there are far worse ways to spend 90-minutes.
The Circle had plenty of potential but it’s for naught with not-so-subtle lines of dialogue combined with an uneven/unfocused story, with unintentionally funny scenes, that never worked and probably would’ve been better served as dark satire.
Black Butterfly had so much potential but it was nearly all squandered away with a lame-ass secondary twist that even old M. Night would think was awful. But ignoring that aspect, and if I were to turn the movie off beforehand, it’s still a finely acted little thriller.
Deep inside covered by a bunch of fake blood, there’s a serious topic on high school bullying in Devil’s Domain but all that is masked by a poor screenplay (mainly bad dialogue) and so-so performances
