The Suicide Squad might not hit the levels of something like Guardians of the Galaxy (still an MCU favorite of mine), but it does take the material in the right direction when compared with Ayer’s 2016 original with a better story and characterization.

The Specials has some aspects of a young James Gunn personality though the humor is a bit raw as is the plot, which was done better in 1999’s Mystery Men.

Dawn of the Dead: Collector’s Edition BD + Screen Caps

Dawn of the Dead is one of only a few horror remakes that was any good (off the top of my head, The Thing and The Fly are others) and as Zack Snyder’s feature film debut it’s a solid start as this was quite entertaining even if the social commentary gives way to cool action.

Review: Slither (Collector’s Edition) BD + Screen Caps

Slither is a wild and fun creature-horror that has plenty of that James Gunn humor that has worked so well in his Guardians films. The cast headlined by Nathan Fillion, the beautiful Elizabeth Banks and inscrutable Michael Rooker are fantastic and although I don’t think it’s some classic, this is one I’ll check out again.
