School of Rock Blu-ray Review

School of Rock was never one of my favorites to come out – and the story itself might be on the clichéd and predictable side – in 2003 but for music enthusiasts, and fans of Jack Black and Richard Linklater, it might hit the right note.

Blindness Blu-ray Review

Blindness might not have been my kind of movie but I appreciate it for the fine performances, excellent cinematography and a story which is at least captured my attention for the film’s duration.

Piranha 3DD Blu-ray Review

Piranha DD is more or less a SyFy Original Movie with nudity. The story, such as there is, is pretty thin (not surprising, though) but the dagger in this movie is unlike its predecessor, it’s not much fun to watch. I’ll give credit to Danielle Panabaker for trying her best and even the director for attempting to bring back the 1970s monster slasher genre, but for me, I just didn’t find this to have any redeeming value, even in the genre.

Review: Criminal Minds: Season 7 DVD

“Criminal Minds” Season 7 might not the best in the series, but considering the hole the producers had to dig out of with the whole Paget Brewster situation, they did a fine job with a reset buttons of sorts. The season also offers up some nice character development for each member of the team to go along with new cases.

Cold Creek Manor Blu-ray Review

Cold Creek Manor wasn’t as awful as it’s been portrayed over the years but in no way is it very good either. Mike Figgis is normally a competent filmmaker but here the script is half-baked and the acting subpar especially Dennis Quaid who primarily sleepwalks his way through.

The Tigger Movie Blu-ray Review

The Tigger Movie is a fun family movie which, as innocent and kid-friendly of a story as it is, will also entertain the adults in the room as well. It’s a classic story with fun characters that has stood the test of time.

Review: “NCIS” The Ninth Season DVD

The ninth season of “NCIS” is one hell of a ride. As in previous seasons, the cast works so well together and the chemistry and dynamic is why the show has been as successful as had been the past couple of years. The storylines are getting richer including a multi-part finale which is fantastic.

The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under Blu-ray Review

The Rescuers and its sequel The Rescuers Down Under are both fun action-adventure films for both kids and adults alike with some great voice talents headlined by Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor

Pocahontas/Pocahontas II Blu-ray Review

Even though the sequel isn’t any good, Pocahontas is one of Disney’s better modern standard animated features. The songs are memorable, the voice talents solid especially Irene Bedard as the title character. The animation is also strong and colorful with wonderful touches to give it a unique touch.

Lady and the Tramp II Blu-ray Review

Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure is another unnecessary direct-to-video from Disney. It tries to harp back to the nostalgia of the original but it falls flat at each stretch of the lame story.

Battleship Blu-ray Review

Battleship is what’s wrong with Hollywood. I have no problem with movies with mindless, simple plot-lines but at least show some effort rather than throwing $200M+ at the screen and hope people merely call it good.

Jaws Blu-ray Review

Jaws might not have been impressive as I had hoped, but understanding the cultural, and box office, impact it has had puts it in a different light versus others. The film might lack substance but it more than makes up for it in well-rounded characters, great casting and impressive practical effects.

Review: Halloween 5 BD + Screen Caps

Halloween 5 is really the first film in the series I disliked. The premise is ridiculous even one where the villain can’t be killed and gets out of every situation seemingly unscathed. Still, the plot is slow to develop and the acting is pretty bad especially from Donald Pleasence who I get his performance where his character has become increasingly obsessed but it comes off a bit cartoony.
