Gloria is a well done even sweet crime-drama where you can see why Gena Rowlands earned her Best Actress Academy Award nomination and the young John Adames, in his one and only role, does a nice job.

First Reformed might be a technically well made drama, and Ethan Hawke does turn in an amazing performance, but I never found the story all that enthralling and in fact some of the scenes were unintentionally funny.

Bound is still my favorite of The Wachowskis movies, even above The Matrix, which itself has also aged quite well. This one has two amazing performances from Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon and Joe Pantoliano for his part was wonderfully chaotic.
Happy Endings: The Complete Series is another home-run release from Mill Creek providing a home video release, providing it to consumers and fans at a reasonable price and in nice packaging.

Walking Tall is a fine enough action-crime movie and an early film in Dwayne Johnson’s career where he probably was just getting used to becoming the action-filled actor we know him to be today.

The House of the Dead was originally released, for some odd reason, as Alien Zone and as such really confused plenty of people. As for the movie itself, it’s kind of your standard horror film in vignette form, taking cues from The Twilight Zone though done a lot better years later with Tales from the Crypt.

The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean is a solid western which is saying something coming from someone who generally isn’t the biggest fan of the genre outside of the classics and it excels thanks to Paul Newman’s charms.
