THE MOVIE — 3.5/5

Season Synopsis: Inmate 4587. That’s Oliver Queen’s (STEPHEN AMELL) newest identity at Slabside Maximum Security Prison, where he’s been keeping his head down and avoiding conflict since he’s publicly revealed his alter ego as the Green Arrow five months ago. With “Team Green Arrow” protecting Star City while Oliver’s behind bars, there have been no vigilante sightings… until a mysterious new Green Arrow appears. Meanwhile, John Diggle (DAVID RAMSEY) and Dinah Drake (JULIANA HARKAVY) are leaving their costumes behind… but not everyone is following suit. Oliver’s limits will be tested when he and the crew are pitted against the most ruthless villains they’ve ever faced, forcing him to seek redemption for his family, his team and his identity while he questions what it truly means to be a hero.

Quick Hit Review: Although still not really hitting on all cylinders, especially compared with the first few seasons, this seventh season of Arrow was a tad better than seasons five and six at least with some interesting storytelling, however still not a big fan of some of the supporting characters. That said, I was moderately entertained by the season and the arc Oliver Queen once again goes through — including spending the first few episodes locked up in prison — and the villains were fairly interesting. As with the Supergirl and Flash seasons, we also get the three-part crossover episodes, ‘Elseworlds’, which was exceedingly entertaining, mostly seeing the trio of heroes, and the introduction to Ruby Rose’s Batwoman (still unsure about her series).

While Arrow: Season Seven was certainly a step up from some previous years, it’s still on the lower end amongst the DC on TV shows, but, and with the eighth and final season coming up, I can only hope they go out with a bang.

VIDEO – 4.0/5

Arrow: The Complete Seventh Season pretty much looks on par with the other shows in the Arrowverse. Although there are certainly darker tones with physical and mental harm that occurs to our heroes, the show still maintains a certain lightness with the sets and costumes which show off a range of colors. There is some minor banding but this is an otherwise fine looking 1080p high-definition transfer.

AUDIO – 3.75/5

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is nothing special outputting crisp and clear dialogue levels however when there are action scenes, and even the score, was rather low key and even a bit muted. Surprisingly, the LFE channel rarely turned on so the depth was on the limited side.

OVERALL – 3.75/5

Overall, Arrow: The Complete Seventh Season isn’t a marked improvement over the past few seasons but at least a bit more entertaining and a tighter storyline that I actually enjoyed for the most part. This Blu-ray release offers up solid video/audio transfers and an okay selection of bonus features.
