I give a brief breakdown on Mill Creek’s June 7th multi-movie pack releases, specifically Streets of Fear and Midnight Movie Madness. None of these movies are of high-quality and are mainly remembered for the stars sometimes in smaller roles. At basement bargain prices, these might be worthy for collector’s of these cheap sets.

THE MOVIES
|
Mill Creek has released a couple bargain bin movie collections including “Streets of Fear” containing 20 films and “Midnight Movie Madness” with 50 movies. Of the 70, none of them one would call high-class outings and presumably most are of the public domain realm. Why they grab any notice is due to some of the recognizable names, some in minor roles such as John Candy in It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time. Checking a few of these films out, they might make for a fun weekend for friends to mock or go MST3K on. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5 |
The 20 Movie Collection is housed in a standard DVD case while the 50 Collection is a box with 10 discs in cardboard slots. The Midnight Movie Madness set does come with a code to stream the entire collection online. |
VIDEO – 1.25/5 | AUDIO – 1.5/5

For the most part, these seemed to be transfers from VHS tapes because, well, they look like crap. Specs, dust marks and scratches permeate just about every movie. The sound design isn’t much better with mono soundtracks that pick up every hiss and pops. That said, not sure what one should expect from sets like these. |
OVERALL – 2.0/5 |
Overall, I suppose if you’re a fan of B-movie schlock and have a fondness for VHS-like video and audio quality, these sets are for you and at basement bargain prices, these might be worth picking up especially if you collect these multi-movie packs. No features are included though there is a code for a streaming option in the 50-pack. |
