The Adventures of Batman is a show of its time and while I can appreciate the animation style, everything else was tough to sit through. I suppose if you’re a Batman and/or DC completist, perhaps this is worth picking up.

Warner Bros. Studios Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post.
The opinions I share are my own.

THE MOVIE — 2½/5

Plot Synopsis: Join the Dynamic Duo (OLAN SOULE, CASEY KASEM) as they take the fight to criminals all across Gotham City. And what a cast of criminals it is! From foiling The Joker’s many twisted plans to keeping Catwoman, The Riddler and The Penguin behind bars, Batman and Robin won’t have a moment to spare.

Quick Hit Review: The Adventures of Batman, a.k.a. Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder, is an animated series that I never really heard of let alone ever watched and while I can appreciate the animation style which often was pretty cool, the dialogue and voice cast was hard to sit through. Like the live action version, this show was of its time and maybe little kids might have fun, but me being in my 40s I really didn’t find it terribly entertaining, not to mention Olan Soule who voices the Caped Crusader, sounded so off, making the wonderful Adam West sound intimidating. Otherwise I can’t imagine revisiting this one.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

This 2-disc release comes housed in a regular Blu-ray case and comes with a matted slip cover. No features were included, however.

VIDEO – 4½/5

Warner Bros. releases The Adventures of Batman onto Blu-ray and is shown with a 1.33 full frame aspect ratio as originally televised. Detail as old animation goes looked good while colors are generally vibrant and bright in keeping with the very campy and kid-friendly content.

AUDIO – 4½/5

Each episode comes with a standard DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track offering up strong campy dialogue and the music at least does have decent enough depth for an old animated series.

OVERALL – 2¾/5

The Adventures of Batman is a show of its time and while I can appreciate the animation style, everything else was tough to sit through. I suppose if you’re a Batman and/or DC completist, perhaps this is worth picking up.
