Robert the Bruce, although not a sequel, picks up where the events of Braveheart left off and stars Angus Mcfaden (who also co-scripted) and Jared Harris. The Blu-ray release comes with a commentary and a featurette.
Scorpion King: Book of Souls is exactly what you’d expect from a DTV sequel to a franchise that you either forgot or about or, in my case, can’t even remember the previous entries, including the original.
Black Sails was Starz’s attempt to have their own version of Game of Thrones and while it never quite reached those levels of quality in terms of writing, I will say the production and costumes designs were mostly impressive and the ensemble cast was absolutely wonderful.
I actually didn’t think Death Race: Beyond Anarchy was bad, just a bit more of the same from the reboot franchise, though switching things up making Frankenstein an outright antagonist or extreme anti-hero.
“Black Sails”: The Complete Second Season is another success for Starz with a compelling story arc and even better cast led by Toby Stevens and Hannah New while newcomer Zach McGowan from “Shameless” as the latest pirate villain, Captain Vane.
