V for Vendetta never struck me on an emotional level and it is a bit heavy handed though presumably the graphic novel was pretty close as well, but the performances from both Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman are strong.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is a fun sequel and watching them in succession, kind of enjoyed this one a bit better as it does include a great villain in Moriarty played by Jared Harris, and his ability to go up against Robert Downey Jr.’s Holmes.
Missing Link is a nice little stop-motion animated film with a standard but still entertaining story to go along with a nice voice cast which includes Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana and Zach Galifianakis; I would say this worth a rental.
Gosford Park is a strong and finely acted ensemble drama from the king of the ensemble, Robert Altman and even though I don’t consider this his best film, it’s still well done.
The Con Is On took 3 years to find distribution but it should have stayed in what vault it was found in as it was just an all around awful crime-comedy, failing in both respects, which is a shame as it is a respectable ensemble cast.
Alice Through the Looking Glass is a messy movie that, as the box office showed, never should’ve been made. The actors seemed uninterested and probably were in it to make a few (million) bucks, Depp especially, but beyond that, it’s such a thin story.
