Darkman: Collector’s Edition 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Darkman is a cheesy but really fun throwback to the B-movie horror days of Hollywood. Liam Neeson is wonderful and turns in a great performance considering the amount of make-up he had to work under.

Evil Dead Rise 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Review

Evil Dead Rise is a decent entry into the franchise that features some great gore effects, during the finale especially. As someone who is only a moderate fan of the series, I found this was to be entertaining but nothing terribly memorable.

The Evil Dead 4K Ultra HD Review

The Evil Dead is easily one of my favorites in the possession/supernatural horror genre of films with a simple story, fine performances all things considered including introducing audiences to the campiness greatness that is Bruce Campbell.

Ash vs. Evil Dead: The Complete Collection Blu-ray Review

Although I was never an uber fan of The Evil Dead, this Ash vs. Evil Dead was a fun series bringing back fan favorite Bruce Campbell that made him a fanboy household name and Campbell is in his element. For whatever reason it was cancelled after only three seasons but those were hella entertaining.

Drag Me to Hell: Collector’s Edition BD + Screen Caps

Drag Me to Hell might not be as good as Raimi’s Evil Dead Trilogy but still hell of a fun time with some truly laugh-out-loud scenes and good performances by Alison Lohman, Justin Long and even David Paymer in a small role.

Darkman: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Review

Darkman is a cheesy but really fun throwback to the B-movie horror days of Hollywood. Liam Neeson is wonderful and turns in a great performance considering the amount of make-up he had to work under while Sam Raimi, far from perfect direction, shows what would come with his Spider-Man franchise.

Spider-Man 2 Blu-ray Review (Mastered in 4k)

The Spider-Man 2 Mastered in 4k Blu-ray release looks good but is it worth the price of an upgrade (around $15)? I don’t think so especially since, as with the other 4k releases none of the features were ported over. Still, if you own the proper equipment and have made the determination to dive into the field, this is a top title worth having in your collection.

Evil Dead Blu-ray Review

With Evil Dead Fede Alvarez and company, along with producers Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, were on an uphill battle remaking/rebooting a cult classic and in some instances, it works but in many others, it came across as another horror movie amongst hundreds of others with higher production values.

Oz the Great and Powerful Blu-ray Review

Oz the Great and Powerful is a fine piece of film making with Raimi and company doing a fine job at least tying it with The Wizard of Oz, although a side effect being, similar to the Star Wars prequels, you kind of delude the mystery of the Wizard by revealing it in a prequel. Even so, though, it’s an enjoyable and entertaining film that doesn’t quite hit its mark yet still passed the time nicely.

Spider-Man Blu-ray Review (Mastered in 4K)

Spider-Man is an OK superhero movie, satisfying enough debut for the web-slinger but that’s not to say it didn’t have more than one flaw. As far as this new re-release goes, the “Mastered in 4K” transfer is wonderful providing rich video and audio transfers but unfortunately, as with the others, none of the features have been ported over.

Indian Summer Blu-ray Review

Indian Summer is a great film that hits all the right notes. It not only brings out the nostalgia for anybody who has attended summer camp but the story is well rounded with the right balance of comedy and drama. The cast is also pitch perfect with the highlights coming from Bill Paxton, Diane Lane and Alan Arkin.
