Ronin is a fantastically slow burning yet still suspense-filled crime drama, a call back to the 60s and 70s preferring realistic car chases, but beyond the cars and explosions, the acting is top notch coupled with David Mamet’s screenplay and dialogue.

The Age of Innocence is an all around rich experience between the costumes, production/sets and a fine cast led way by Daniel Day-Lewis and Michelle Pfeiffer. It certainly was an unusual choice for Martin Scorsese yet like any master filmmaker, really pulled it off.

Woman in Gold may not be as powerful of a drama as I’m sure the Weinstein’s wanted or expected considering the subject and starring Helen Mirren, but even so, it’s still well done with solid performances all around. The Blu-ray released by Anchor Bay has an OK selection of bonus material while the video/audio transfers are both great.

Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of supernatural horror or demonic possession flicks with some obvious exceptions (The Exorcist for one) but for some of its flaws, mainly dating itself to the time period with the music and style, Stigmata is a decent enough flick and tolerable thanks to Patricia Arquette and Gabriel Byrne (who two months later would go on to play Satan in End of Days).
