Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is I suppose one of the better offerings in the MonsterVerse but that may be faint praise given, outside of Kong: Skull Island, these movies tend to be forgettable and this one pays less focus on the humans at least.

Review: Kill Switch BD + Screen Caps

Kill Switch might be, on paper, an interesting concept but by going with the first person shooter route and you actually distance yourself with the main character as played by Dan Stevens and at that point you couldn’t care less about his situation.

Review: Beauty and the Beast (2017) BD + Screen Caps

To say I was disappointed in this Beauty and the Beast live action adaptation would be an understatement. Although the technical aspects were impressive, the performances, particularly for Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, were underwhelming, and the new music was rather forgettable.

Review: Criminal Activities BD + Screen Caps

Criminal Activities isn’t a half bad crime-drama especially by direct-to-video standards. The performances from Michael Pitt and Dan Stevens were good and even John Travolta in his limited appearance gives the film some weight.

A Walk Among the Tombstones Blu-ray Review

A Walk Among the Tombstones is an uneven crime-drama but its saving grace is with Liam Neeson who continues his success after his career resurgence following Taken. The story itself doesn’t quite work and the third act is a bit on the clichéd side, however, this might be worth a rental especially if you don’t mind a throwback thriller to the 1970s and 80s (think Charles Bronson).

The Guest Blu-ray Review

In spite of my criticisms of The Guest, there are some things to admire from the performances by its two leads (Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe) and some very dark humor with one scene standing out (at the restaurant for those who have seen it), but for all I liked, this was just a shift in tone which really took this from being ridiculously awesome to ridiculously stupid.
