PLOT SYNOPSIS

Blake (CHRISTOPHER ABBOTT) and his family are attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside a farmhouse as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable that soon jeopardizes his wife (JULIA GARNER) and daughter (MATILDA FIRTH).

SPECIAL FEATURES – 3½/5

This release comes with a slip cover and a redemption code for the Digital HD copy.

Audio Commentary with Director/Co-Writer Leigh Whannell who’s always been pretty engaging dating back to his track on Saw.

Featurettes:

  • Unleashing a New Monster (8:07) is a rather basic making-of on the concept of the story.
  • Designing Wolf Man (8:54) delves into the creature design.
  • Hands-on Horror (6:51) is on the stunt work.
  • Nightmares and Soundscapes (6:56) goes into the shooting style.

4K ULTRA HD VIDEO – 4¾/5 | BLU-RAY VIDEO – 4½/5

Wolf Man howls onto 4K Ultra HD where it’s presented in its original 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and a 2160p high-definition transfer. As this is a darkly lit movie at times you’re not going to get vibrant colors in keeping with the darker nature of the story and instead black levels are nicely balanced and detail itself is sharp and well defined throughout.

AUDIO – 5/5

The disc comes with a Dolby Atmos track which provides some good dialogue levels mainly through the enter channel and there is fine depth during the more horror-centric scenes, but the bulk is pretty much dialogue or atmospheric driven more than anything.
