PLOT SYNOPSIS |
| A 21st-century Marine convict (RAY LIOTTA) sent to a remote island prison called Absolom, lands in the midst of a war between two inmate factions. It’s nice to see interviews, even if it’s only three participants, for an obscure apocalyptic film and each of them give their stories behind how they came to the production. Making of Escape from Absolom (28:02) is a behind-the-scenes featurette with on-set interviews. Vintage Featurette (6:20) is from circa 1993 and has behind-the-scenes footage and serves as a promotion. Also includes an Alternate Intro (2:10), a Promotional Gallery (7:56), Original Theatrical Trailer (2:10) and 4 TV Spots. |

No Escape comes to Blu-ray where it’s presented in its original 2.35 aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. There’s no mention on the back cover of where this master came from so presumably it was provided by the rights’ holder (Pathe Films?). But whatever the case, the picture here looks decent with sharp enough detail on the close-ups while some of the matte paintings and effects do show the film’s age. But that said, colors appear nicely balanced and is relatively clean though there is some specs and scratches that are noticeable. The disc comes with the choice of a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 or PCM 2.0 track, the former being the default option. The dialogue comes across fairly clearly and there is okay depth for the more action-centric scenes. It’s nothing particularly noteworthy but more than serviceable. |
