American Flyers debuts on Blu-ray through the Warner Archive Collection and presented in the original 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. Per the press release I received, this picture was taken from a new master and as such this does look good in HD. Detail is fairly good for the close-up shots while the more distant ones are okay. The motion also looks fluid for the numerous bike racing sequences. Colors meanwhile are well balanced and there were no signs of aliasing, artifacting or other flaws making for a clean transfer. The disc comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track which I found to be more than serviceable providing for clear dialogue along with the more action-centric elements involving the bike racing scenes. And there’s some decent enough depth with ambient noises along with the score. |
