Clifford the Big Red Dog is a safe movie for the entire family, but especially the young ones with clean humor and wholesome message. Nothing great but still harmless.

PLOT SYNOPSIS |
When Emily Elizabeth (DARBY CAMP) meets a magical animal rescuer who gives her a little red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant, 10-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. With her single mother (SIENNA GUILLORY) away on business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle (JACK WHITEHALL) set out on an adventure that takes a bite out of the Big Apple. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 2/5 |
This release may come with a slip cover, although it seems to be rare, most in-stores did not come with one (and mine coming from Paramount did not either). Also included is a code for the Digital HD copy. Extras include a few featurettes: Part of the Pack (6:34) introducing the cast and laying out the story; Acting is for the Dogs (3:20) is on the on-set representation for Clifford; The Magic of Bridwell (7:11) is a profile on the Clifford author, Norman Bridwell; Tips & Tricks for Taking Care of a 10 Foot Dog (2:28), a kid-friendly featurette; and last 3 Deleted Scenes (2:50). |
VIDEO – 4½/5 |
Clifford the Big Red Dog barks onto Blu-ray, presented with a 2.00 which appears to be the streaming standard, and a 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture here looks as good as a new movie should with sharp detail while the red in Clifford as a fine pop to it, although the CGI dog himself isn’t a bit dodgy. |
AUDIO – 4½/5 |
The movie comes equipped with a strong Dolby Atmos track, which is tad overkill for a family movie and one of this nature, but still fairly good. Dialogue comes across with great clarity and there are a few more action-centric scenes on the streets of New York that provide some solid depth making usage of the front and rear speakers. |
Check out some more 1080p screen caps by going to page 2. Please note, these do contain spoilers.
