Another Thin Man comes to Blu-ray presented in the original 1.37 full frame aspect ratio and given a new 1080p high-definition transfer, courtesy of the Warner Archive Collection. As with the majority of these older films released by Warner Bros., the picture looks rather stunning, detail is sharp and the black and white presentation is pretty phenomenal, the original film grain and noise has been retained. There were no obvious signs of damage so it’s a very clean looking transfer. The included DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track is quite solid. Dialogue comes across with great clarity and the depth, at least for singular channel standards, is modest. But the biggest upside is the track is clean, not much discernible hissing or other flaws, which for a film now 80+ years old, is pretty impressive. |
