PLOT SYNOPSIS |
| Alfred Kralik (JAMES TEWART) and Klara Novak (MARGARET SULLAVAN) are employees at Matuschek and Company, a general store in Budapest. Klara and Alfred are constantly at odds with each other, butting heads and disagreeing on almost everything. Both are enamored of their respective pen pals, who serve as welcome distractions in their lives. Little do they know, they are each the other’s pen pal and, despite outward differences, have unwittingly fallen in love through their letters. |

The Shop Around the Corner is released to Blu-ray through the Warner Archive Collection and presented in its original 1.37 full frame aspect ratio and has been given a new 1080p high-definition transfer. The black and white presentation looks amazing, detail is incredibly sharp and the natural grain and noise has been retained. The movie includes a DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo Mono track and shows off the crisp and clear dialogue and some modest depth for the score. Nothing outstanding, however I didn’t discern any pops, hisses or other flaws that can permeate these older films (this one going on 80 years. |
