Do It Yourself is a bit of a gem of a film and one of the reasons I love reviewing movies because it’s highly doubtful, damn-new impossible, I would have ever seen this movie otherwise.

THE MOVIE – 3.75/5

Plot Synopsis: A small-time crook (KONSTANTINOS ASPIOTIS), holed up in a labyrinth porn studio, finds that he is being hunted down by a double-crossing crime boss. He has only one option: to escape from the other crooks.

Quick Hit Review: Not terribly inventive or innovative, Do It Yourself is still a fun and all around entertaining crime-thriller with dark comedy thrown. The acting was decent enough far as I could tell, which is difficult on these foreign releases. The only downside is, due to it being a Greek feature where one must read subtitles and don’t recognize any faces, it was a bit difficult following who was who given the double crosses. Even so, this is a definite recommend.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 2.25/5

Not a ton of features but still a decent selection including an Audio Commentary with writer/director Dimitris Tsilifonis, How it was Shot and Visual Effects Breakdown featurettes, 2 Deleted Scenes and The Way of Styx short film.

VIDEO – 4.0/5, AUDIO – 3.75/5

Artsploitation releases Do It Yourself presented with a 2.39 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio and the Greek-language Dolby Digital 5.1 track.

OVERALL – 3.5/5

Overall, Do It Yourself is a bit of a gem of a film and one of the reasons I love reviewing movies because it’s highly doubtful, damn-new impossible, I would have ever seen this movie otherwise. This was an all around fun flick well worth checking out.
