War of the Worlds certainly is not top shelf Steven Spielberg and generally I didn’t like it quite as much as I did 15 years ago, however I will say the visual effects mostly held up and I can’t say I was ever bored.
No Escape is an all around entertaining film perfect for a Saturday movie night. No, it doesn’t make you think or have any profound performances but the acting isn’t bad with Owen Wilson serving as a fine everyman type of character and Pierce Brosnan in his small part is a lot of fun. This is probably worthy of a rental.
One could call Code 46 the Minority Report (which also co-starred Samantha Morton) on a stricter budget but more compact story and although I probably give the edge to MR mainly due to the direction from Spielberg, this is still a nice little future thriller featuring great performances by Tim Robbins and Samantha Morton.
Green Lantern had loads of potential but thanks primarily to the script, all of that was squandered. While the casting itself was actually pretty good, including Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, and even a few scenes were decent, the film’s structure was out of sorts with a weak villain…
