Tully was a surprisingly well done drama from director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody, both teaming up again for another solid film. Along with those two, Charlize Theron turns in a wonderful and powerful performance.
Blade Runner 2049 is probably not a great sequel to the 1982 classic but still a very good movie as a whole. Although the visuals (both in terms of cinematography and effects) are fantastic, the characters weren’t all that interesting and the performances were just okay. However, this is still well worth seeing.
The Martian: Extended Edition is a well made sci-fi thriller but admittedly, I think the theatrical version is tighter though there are a couple nice additions to the Extended Cut while other scenes weren’t necessary. As for this Blu-ray release, which should’ve been the initial release anyway, it offers up amazing video/audio transfers and some extensive bonus material.
What If excels on its two leads in Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan as well as a great supporting cast, rather than sharp, witty dialogue or even the plot which has been done in the past, including 500 Days of Summer. Still, it’s well worth a watch. The Blu-ray released by Sony offers good audio/video transfers while the bonus material is fairly limited.
