Mary Queen of Scots is certainly a rich movie in terms of the technical aspects including costumes, hair/makeup and set designs, and while both Ronan and Robbie’s performances were great, the story in of itself lacked much of an emotional punch.
On Chesil Beach was admittedly disappointing; it might offer great performances by both Ronan and Howle, but had editing that, while perhaps true to the novel, hindered the character development.
Despite some plot holes, Hanna is an entertaining film with three great performances from Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett and Tom Hollander and a serviceable one from Eric Bana.
