Jamestown: The Complete Collection is now available on DVD from PBS, the three seasons contained in a single DVD case, nice for those looking for space-saving individuals.
NOVA: The Planets is an alright documentary series though I have seen better produced from The Science Channel and the like, though this is still well worth checking out for anyone interested in our outer-space neighbors.
Chasing the Moon, the latest in the “American Experience” line is a very well made documentary series going through man’s quest to travel to the moon to beyond.
I’m not terribly familiar with source material but found this PBS mini-series has wonderful performances from Dominic West and David Oyelowo along with some rich production and costume designs.
NOVA: Rise of the Rockets is an informative episode of the series providing a glimpse at the future of both exploration as well as the corporate-backing.
Victoria: The Complete Second Season is a visually rich and finely written British television series that featured excellent performances, headlined by Jenna Coleman who encompasses the character so well.
The Collection is a very well made UK production featuring some great performances, Richard Coyle especially, and some excellent and award-worthy production/costume designs.
The Vietnam War is yet another amazingly detailed and fleshed out documentary from Ken Burns and Lynn Novick outlining the history of Vietnam from French colonial rule to what precipitated the United States’ participation and continued military involvement over the course of a decade.
