This is a trashy movie with terrible acting and an all around bad and disgusting screenplay… even by Lifetime Channel standards which are already pretty low. Beyond that, it’s a horrible cash grab and is nothing more than tabloid dribble offering innuendos and unsubstantiated stories which should place this squarely into fictional territory.

PLOT SUMMARY

The Brittany Murphy Story tells the story of the talented young actress (portrayed by AMANDA FULLER) who became a breakout star with the support and determination of her mother, Sharon (SHERILYN FENN), in the 1980s and ‘90s. With high-profile roles in Clueless, 8 Mile, and Girl, Interrupted, Brittany achieved her Hollywood dream, but her desperation for approval and insecurity about her looks made her personal life a disaster.

Though the men in Brittany’s life would come and go, her mother remained the grounding for in her life. But that enduring maternal love wasn’t enough to save Brittany from the dangers of Hollywood life. Four years later, as news reports swirl around the mystery of Brittany’s untimely death amid her father’s claims that she was poisoned, Sharon and Brittany are thrust into the limelight once more.

VIDEO – 4.0/5 | AUDIO – 3.5/5

Lionsgate releases The Brittany Murphy Story onto DVD presented with an anamorphic widescreen transfer where colors are generally bright and cheerful but even darker scenes are stark.

The movie comes with a standard Dolby Digital 5.1 track which serves well since this is a “dialogue” driven flick with clean levels making the most use out of the center channel while ambient noises and the generic music provide some minor depth via the front and rear channels.

OVERALL – 1.0/5

Overall, this is a trashy movie with terrible acting and an all around bad and disgusting screenplay… even by Lifetime Channel standards which are already pretty low. Beyond that, it’s a horrible cash grab and is nothing more than tabloid dribble offering innuendos and unsubstantiated stories which should place this squarely into fictional territory.
