The Colony actually isn’t too bad of a suspense-thriller. It’s a low budget utilizing SyFy-like sets and visual effects (well, perhaps a bit better) but the performances are very good headlined by Kevin Zegers and Laurence Fishburne (in a limited role).

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.25/5
This release comes with a semi-glossy slip cover. The only feature is Behind the Scenes (9:50; HD) features interviews with the cast and crew.
VIDEO – 4.25/5
RLJ Entertainment releases The Colony onto Blu-ray presented with a 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture actually doesn’t look bad despite being what I assume was a relatively inexpensive production. The film looks like it was shot digitally and while it looks a bit too clean at times, the clarity looks excellent, detail levels quite good and the colors, in the darker realm, well balanced.
AUDIO – 3.75/5
The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track provided offers crystal clear audio levels with dialogue coming from the center channel with ambient noise (such as a blizzard or gunfire) making use of the front and rear speakers nicely. It’s not a perfect lossless track nor is it one I’d use to show off my system, but it’s a solid track nonetheless.
OVERALL – 3.0/5
Overall, The Colony actually isn’t too bad of a suspense-thriller. It’s a low budget utilizing SyFy-like sets and visual effects (well, perhaps a bit better) but the performances are very good headlined by Kevin Zegers and Laurence Fishburne (in a limited role). The Blu-ray released by RLJ has good audio/video transfers but the bonus material is limited.
