VIDEO – 5/5, AUDIO – 4½/5

Hotel du Nord comes to Blu-ray from The Criterion Collection presented in the original 1.37 full frame aspect ratio and given a new 1080p high-definition transfer. This is brilliant looking picture, detail is sharp and well defined throughout and showcases a nice balance between the blacks, whites and grays. There were no obvious signs of artifacts, aliasing or other flaws making yet another wonderful restoration work from Criterion.

The movie comes with a French language PCM Mono track which I found to sound pretty fantastic; dialogue comes across with great clarity and really no discernible bouts of pops or hisses. And even for a singular track, there is some okay depth with background noises.
