The Undoing is a well made suspense-mystery featuring some compelling performances from Kidman, Grant and Sutherland that easily overcomes some of the shortcomings.

Plot Synopsis: Grace and Jonathan Fraser (NICOLE KIDMAN, HUGH GRANT) have the life they always wanted: She’s a successful therapist, he’s an acclaimed pediatric oncologist, and their son (NOAH JUPE) attends an elite private school in Manhattan. But for Grace, everything unravels overnight when a young woman (MATILDA DE ANGELIS) is brutally murdered and the prime suspect is her husband who has gone missing. Quick Hit Review: It’s not often I watched TV shows anymore save for a few here and there, but I do appreciate these “Limited Series” ones that HBO has been doing and The Undoing is one show, with some flaws for sure, was worth the time investment, and can be done in one sitting. The story itself is stretched thin across six episodes and there a couple eye-rolling fake-outs in terms of the whodunit and an over-the-top finale, but I still found myself mostly engaged. In addition, the performances are all top-notch. Nicole Kidman (who also served as executive producer) continues to turn in solid work after all these years; Hugh Grant reminds you the guy can be charming as hell and I only wish he’d do more projects; and veteran Donald Sutherland gives his role much needed gravitas and has a few unexpectedly bad-ass moments (his c***s***** rant was a highlight of the series). |

This two-disc release comes housed in a side-sliding matted slip cover and inside is an episode guide and redemption code for the Digital HD copy. Disc 1: Disc 2: Creating The Undoing (3:11) is some more interview footage delving into the story and on writer David E. Kelley and director Susanne Bier. The Undoing Revelations (TRT 9:23) are additional character (and a scene) profiles with Fernando Alves (2:01), Franklin Reinhart (2:28), Henry Fraser (2:19) and The Bridge Scene (2:35). |

| The Undoing comes to Blu-ray presented in its original 2.00 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. For the most part, while not incredible, it still looks quite good, detail is sharp and colors are on the more subtle side due to the darker, mystery element of the story and characters. |
AUDIO – 4½/5 |
| Each episode comes with an effective DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track, outputting strong dialogue levels from the center channel and some decent depth for a variety of scenes, including the action-centric finale. |
OVERALL – 3½/5 |

Overall, The Undoing is a well made suspense-mystery featuring some compelling performances from Kidman, Grant and Sutherland that easily overcomes some of the shortcomings (stretched out story for one) and it’s well worth checking out. The Blu-ray release from Warner offers up good video and audio transfers and an okay selection of bonus features. |
