Someone to Watch Over Me admittedly was a bit of a disappointment as I do love crime-dramas and combined with Ridley Scott at the helm, figured it’d be entertaining, but it’s a movie that features two leads who had zero chemistry with one another.

Plot Synopsis: Newly appointed detective Mike Keegan (TOM BERENGER) finds his life turned upside-down when he’s assigned to protect New York socialite Claire Gregory (MIMI ROGERS), the beautiful eyewitness to a brutal murder. Lured into danger and the dizzying heights of Gregory’s glamorous lifestyle, Keegan struggles to walk the line between protection and obsession — while trying to stay one step ahead of the psychotic killer (ANDREAS KATSULAS). Quick Hit Review: A middle-of-the-road, half baked thriller, Someone To Watch Over Me is a film from Ridley Scott — his fifth feature-length film that followed Legend — has a basic plot though its biggest problem is with leads Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers, both certainly solid actors but the two did not have great chemistry together, which is an issue since it’s the relationship between them that is one of the driving forces. On the positive side, however, Lorraine Bracco steals the show in every scene she’s in and it’s always fun seeing Jerry Orbach, especially when he’s playing a version of his Law & Order character, Lennie Briscoe… This isn’t to say the movie wasn’t at least slightly entertaining, as there were a few okay moments, but it did lack very much mystery and even was on the predictable side, yet I won’t say it’s at least worth watching if available services like Netflix or Hulu. One other note, for a movie about an illicit affair… it is very tame in that regard, no real explicit sex scenes. |

No slip cover or reversible artwork, but there are two new Interviews with Writer Howard Franklin (10:41) and the other wit Director of Photography Steven Poster (14:04). Unfortunate nothing from Berenger, Rogers or Bracco, no real surprise someone like Ridley Scott wouldn’t participate of course. |

| Shout Factory, through their “Select” line releases Someone to Watch Over Me onto Blu-ray presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. There’s no mention of any restoration work, but this does look halfway okay, detail is decent enough while colors are more on the muted side and black levels does display some noise. Otherwise, it does appear to be a clean picture with no obvious signs of artifacting, aliasing, dust marks or other flaws. |
AUDIO – 3.5/5 |
| The disc comes with a standard but still efficient DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which outputs clear enough dialogue and some so-so depth. Nothing great but for a movie going on 30 years and likely did not get some sort of restoration work, not too bad either. |

The Blu-ray release from Shout Factory has two new interviews and video/audio transfers which weren’t bad. |
