This “Horror Double Feature” is another re-packaging of Hostel and Hostel Part II and given the <$10 price point and if you don’t already own the other release, or the individual ones, this is an okay pick-up, just know this does not include any bonus features.

THE MOVIES |
Hostel (2005) — 3.0/5 Hostel: Part II (2007) — 2.0/5 Review: These two Eli Roth written and directed horror movies were among the first of the torture porn sub-genre alongside Saw which came out a year before Hostel. As such, I didn’t hate either one and found some dark entertainment value out of the first one while its sequel featured a weak-ass plot, even by the already low torture porn standards, and was just a nasty movie in general, one I don’t have very much desire to watch again. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5 |
No features were included. |
VIDEO – 3.5/5, AUDIO — 4.0/5 |
With both movies being held on the same disc, you’re not going to get anything all that pristine and presumably are the same transfers from previous Mill Creek releases. Even so, the 1080p picture are at least more than adequate with decent dark levels and some nice sharpness.
Both films comes with basic Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks which were effective for the disturbing blood-curdling screams and the music score, but otherwise nothing else all that noteworthy. Not sure why this had an old audio codec especially when the back cover says DTS-HD MA 5.1 tracks were included… |
OVERALL – 2.5/5 |
